Our Mission
Tissue Bank Osteocentre Bulgaria is the first licensed Tissue Establishment in Bulgaria under Directive 2004/23/EC and the Organ, Tissue and Cell Transplantation Act.
Since its inception in 2002 OCBG is following the highest medical, legal, and ethical standards to ensure safety and quality of tissues for transplantation.
Our efforts are focused on:
- Offering bereavement support to our donor families.
- Improving risk prevention and maximizing the healing effect in treatment of recipients of tissue transplant products.
- Supporting the donor families and educating the public about donation.
- Nurturing respect and appreciation for the medical professionals involved in the donation process.
The tissue bank operates in compliance with the international ISO quality standards, European directives 2004/23/EC, 2006/17/EC and 2006/86/EC and the national legislation of the Republic of Bulgaria
European Tissue Exchange Network
The main partner of Osteocenter Bulgaria is the German Institute for Cell and Tissue Transplantation DIZG – a non-profit organization that is licensed, registered and approved by the relevant competent authorities according to Directive 2003/17/EC and Directive 2004/23/EC of the European Commission.
Together with DIZG we are developing a Program for participation in the European Exchange Pool for Tissues, Cells and Allograft Products as part of the European Exchange Network.
BATB
In 2004 Osteocentre Bulgaria became a co-founder of the Bulgarian Association of Tissue Banks (BATB), which is an institutional member of the European Association of Tissue Banks (EATB).
Our mission
We are building a bridge between life and death, so that compassion would reach those who need it.
Our mission is to develop the Bulgarian tissue transplantation system in compliance with the highest medical, ethical and moral standards and to support the process of its integration into the common European Tissue Exchange Network.
We build and finance a national tissue donation network, which provides access of clinical medicine in Bulgaria to high-tech allograft products manufactured by the patent biotechnologies of the German Institute for Cell and Tissue Transplantation DIZG.
